COUNCIL Attract Extra £1.3Million For Marine Engineering Investment At Inchgreen
REGENERATION bosses have secured additional money for improving facilities at Inchgreen dock in the hope of attracting inward investors.
Inverclyde Council officials are confident of development taking place this year at the Greenock site which was already in line for around £10million of City Deal funding.
A report updating councillors stressed that details for what is proposed at Inchgreen “remain confidential in view of commercial sensitivity”.
But the document continues: “It is important to note however that the council has secured a £1.36million grant from Clyde Mission for the upgrading of the large shed adjacent to the dry dock.
“This is to facilitate marine engineering operations within the shed.
“This grant is additional to the £9.4million of City Deal funding allocated to Inchgreen.”
Officials state: “Whilst Covid has impacted on progress at Inchgreen through the changing plans of potential inward investors, officers remain confident that development will proceed at Inchgreen through 2021.”
