Inverclyde Now Logo HELICOPTER Brought In For 25-Mile Police Pursuit From Greenock

A DRIVER was arrested after a police vehicle pursuit from Greenock to Glasgow that ended with the car being boxed in on a motorway by specialist officers.

The incident started around 1.30pm yesterday when plain-clothed officers observed a Kia Niro driving erratically on the A8 eastbound.

Sergeant Jason Logsdon said: “Assistance from a marked police vehicle was requested to stop the car to check all was in order however the vehicle allegedly failed to stop despite being instructed to do so a number of times.

“Road policing officers and a police helicopter joined the pursuit whereby the car was eventually boxed safely by road policing officers and the driver arrested at Junction 2 the M74 in Glasgow.”

A 31-year-old man was charged with numerous traffic offences and held in custody for court.
