GOUROCK Gap Site Flats And Shop Plan Rejected

26 March, 2024 | Local, Planning

PLANNERS have refused permission for a development in Gourock town centre.

Nine flats and a retail unit were proposed for the gap site at 53 Shore Street.

There was to have been a mixture of one and two-bedroom properties, with lift access to all floors.

Inverclyde Council officials refused permission because it had not been shown that the development would not have an adverse impact on flood risk as an independently checked flood and drainage assessment had not been supplied.

Planning permission was previously granted — in 2017 — for eight flats at the site.

A design statement included with the new application explained: “The gap site can be infilled to meet the current high demand for quality residential accommodation.”

The proposal did not include off-street vehicle parking but relied on the current on-street provision instead.
