GOLF — Gourock Club Champion Congratulated For Remarkable Round
GOUROCK Golf Club member and current club champion Steven Higgins scoring a remarkable six under par gross 67 in a recent competition.
Playing off a handicap of plus 2.4, Steven got off to a fast start with back-to-back birdies at the 1st and 2nd holes only to give one back to the course with a bogey five at the testing 3rd hole.
A birdie two at the short 4th hole got him back on track and he got to the turn at three under after notching up a further birdie at the long 9th.
Steven was very consistent on the back nine with three birdies and six pars delivering an inward half of 34, also three under par.
His performance was made all the more memorable and poignant given the trophies being played for on the day were presented to the club in memory of his late father George Higgins who had been a stalwart at Gourock for so many years.
