Inverclyde Now Logo DATE Set For Final Kerbside Glass Collections

18 May, 2018 | Local

GLASS will no longer be collected from the kerbside for recycling by Inverclyde Council from Sunday 1 July.

Final kerbside collections are scheduled to take place during June.

Environment and Regeneration Convener Councillor Michael McCormick: “As part of the Council’s budget review we had to make the tough decision to withdraw the kerbside glass collection service. It wasn’t an easy one as we pride ourselves on our excellent record on recycling.

“I appreciate people will now have to go a little out of their way rather than enjoy the convenience of collections but I encourage householders to continue to recycle and re-use what they can.

“I thank everyone for supporting the kerbside glass collection service and I hope people will continue to make use of the wide range of recycling facilities we have available in Inverclyde.”

Glass can still be recycled at Pottery Street and Kirn Drive Recycling Centres and at neighbourhood recycling points.

Residents can keep their black box after Sunday 1 July to store and transport glass bottles and jars for recycling. Alternatively the boxes can be recycled at Pottery Street Recycling Centre.
