CRICKET — Inverclyde Start Season With Home Fixture

INVERCLYDE Cricket Club’s season starts with a home fixture against Galloway Seconds at Gourock Park on Saturday.

Inverclyde return to Division Four after playing in the combined Division Three/Four league in 2021 because of covid pandemic factors.

Gareth James is captain again, although misses out on the opening game because of work commitments.

He is able to name a strong side for Saturday including a debut for the hard-hitting Matt Walton who has transfered registration from Renfrew.

Coaching for Inverclyde’s junior section continues indoors on Saturday mornings until the end of May at St Columba’s High School, Gourock from 10.30 to noon.

Inverclyde Cricket Club are keen to increase the number of junior cricketers in the local area, and have experienced qualified coaches.

Sessions are free to attend, with all equipment being provided by the club.
