GREENOCK’S opening league match of the season against Kilmarnock was rained off.
Wet weather moved in to the west of Scotland late morning on Saturday, the rain getting increasingly heavy during the afternoon.
Play at Glenpark was impossible and the umpires called the match off around 1pm when it was agreed that it was unlikely that the rain was going to ease.
The abandonment of the match was a huge disappointment to both teams and their supporters especially after the fine weather which had been around for many days beforehand.
The Greenock team must now wait until next Saturday for their first competitive fixture which will be away to East Kilbride.
