CRICKET: Greenock Face Tough Fixture Against Uddingston

STRUGGLING Greenock travel to Lanarkshire to face high-flying Uddingston on Saturday.

The local side have endured two disappointing results over recent weekends and now lie in relegation territory.

Uddingston are second top of the league and aiming to achieve a quick return to the Western Premiership One after having been relegated at the end of summer 2025.

They have won eight out of nine league fixtures. When Greenock met Uddingston at Glenpark on 23 May, the Lanarkshire side made light work of the match. Greenock were bowled out for just 59 runs and Uddingston scored the runs in under 13 overs to win by 10 wickets, the local team’s worst result of the season.

The team to play Uddingston at Bothwell Policies on Saturday with a noon start will be: TA Matthews, (Capt), Ma Ahmadzai, Mu Ahmadzai, CS Calder, F Dinarkhiel, U Mansoor, GJ McDougall, A. McGuirk (Wk), CS Pandher, SS Prabhu, K Thapa.

Greenock’s 2nd XI, Glenpark, play against Ferguslie’s 2nd XI, Meikleriggs, at Glenpark on Saturday with a noon start. The team will include: P Robertson (Capt), W Ahmad, A Avishake, D Brabender,  R Kumar, M Mansoor, H Safi, R Safi, N Shaukat and M Zeeshan.

The Greenock Hillend XI lost to Clydesdale Bees’ in a Midweek League match at Titwood. Clydesdale Bees scored 190 for eight wickets with Z Dilsoz Hillend’s top wicket-taker with 3 for 50. In reply Greenock put up a decent run chase scoring 150 for 8. Dilsoz with 50 was top scorer, with Mahmood Ahmadzai, 37, also contributing important runs.
