Inverclyde Now Logo CRACK Cocaine And Knives Allegedly Found After 1am Police Vehicle Stop In Greenock

FIVE people were arrested after police allegedly recovered drugs and knives from a vehicle they searched in central Greenock.

Officers on patrol observed a vehicle apparently trying to avoid them on Lynedoch Street at 1:15am yesterday (Wednesday). It was stopped nearby.

Sergeant Jason Logsdon said: “Due to the circumstances, the vehicle and five occupants were searched under Misuse of Drugs legislation.

“Four males and a female were arrested after a quantity of drugs believed to be crack cocaine and a number of individual vials containing white powder, believed to be cocaine, were recovered from the vehicle.

“Two occupants were found in possession of lock-back knives.”

Two men aged 24 were held in custody for alleged drug-related offences and possession of knives.

Two males aged 24 and a woman aged 22 were freed to appear at court today on drug-related charges.
