GREENOCK Philharmonic Choir have started rehearsals for their spring concert, following a successful Christmas event.

The singers are preparing Mozart’s Requiem, along with Rejoice in the Lamb (Britten) and two songs by James Macmillan, for the performance on 28 March.

New members are welcome in all sections, and all music is provided. Rehearsals take place in Lyle Kirk, Union Street on Monday evenings. For further information contact 07847 250529 or visit Greenock Philharmonic Choir’s Facebook page.

The choir were joined at their Christmas concert by Riverside Youth Band. The organist was Gordon Cree and the soprano soloist was Caitlin Mackenzie.

Conductor Andrew McTaggart said: “This was a great concert full of all the joy of Christmas. The choir, band and soloist Caitlin were all on great form and were only matched by the glorious sound of ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing’ with more than 200 people singing plus band and organ.”
