Inverclyde Now Logo COMPLETE Closures Of A8 In Greenock For Overnight Roadworks

10 April, 2019 | Noticeboard

DRIVERS are being warned of overnight closures of the A8 in Greenock next week.

The road will be shut at Cartsdyke Roundabout for resurfacing work by Scotland TranServ on behalf of Transport Scotland.

The closures will be on place from:

— 8pm on Monday 15 April to 6am on Tuesday 16 April,

— 8pm on Tuesday 16 April to 6am on Wednesday 17 April

Local diversions will be in place. Drivers are advised to allow some extra time for their journeys.

Alan Murray, Scotland TranServ’s principal roads design engineer, said: “It was necessary to postpone the start of the A8 resurfacing programme due to March’s Met Office Yellow Weather Warning. While the remainder of the project went ahead as programmed, we needed to reschedule the resurfacing of the Cartsdyke Roundabout.

“In order to keep disruption to a minimum for commuters and local businesses, we are programming the works for two separate overnights. We have been consulting with the local authority, emergency services and stakeholders to reduce the impact on the community. Works will be carried out ahead of the busy Easter weekend.”
