WORK to install traffic lights on a main route in Greenock is to get underway soon.
The lights will be at the junction of Grey Place and West Blackhall Street and are being provided at a cost of £600,000.
An update given to Inverclyde councillors states: “The design for the signalised junction…is now complete with works proposed to start in February.”
The changes to the junction will tie in with a major project to make the West Blackhall Street area more people-friendly through public realm and active travel improvements.
The traffic lights are being funding by Strathclyde Partnership For Transport which is also paying for a new pedestrian crossing costing £200,000 on the A8 Dalyrmple Street at William Street. It will replace the crossing nearby, at the Inverclyde Centre.
