BID To Overturn Refusal Of New Home In Gourock

9 November, 2022 | Local, Planning

AN appeal has been lodged over Inverclyde Council’s rejection of a plan for a new detached property at a Gourock housing estate.

Planners refused permission for a house on a grassed area at Dunvegan Avenue, beside the electricity sub-station, near the junction with Brodick Drive. The two-storey house was to have had three bedrooms.

Forty-four public objections were made regarding the plan.

Inverclyde Council officials said the development would mean loss of valuable open space.

The applicant has now submitted a bid to get the decision overturned.

A document included with appeal documents states: “This same ‘open space’ challenge was also encountered when the applicant of land between 34 and 36 Dunvegan Avenue was refused planning permission…and appealed.

“The applicant was granted permission subject to conditions which establishes a strong precedent.”

The appeal will be heard by councillors on Inverclyde’s local review body.
