ACCLAIMED Performer JJ Gilmour Headlining Next Indie Inverclyde Gig

23 August, 2025 | Local

SINGER-songwriter JJ Gilmour performs at Greenock’s Beacon Art Centre next month as part of the Indie Inverclyde series.

The gig on Saturday 6 September will also feature Glasgow indie-pop band Wojtek the Bear.

Best known as the charismatic frontman of The Silencers, one of Scotland’s most loved bands with a devoted following across Europe and America, JJ Gilmour has carved out an extraordinary solo career. With five studio albums and countless live performances to his name, he celebrated his 25th year as a solo artist in 2024 with the release of his new compilation album The Evolution of JJ Gilmour.

JJ has also enjoyed success beyond the stage, co-creating the hit musical Dancing Shoes (based on the life of George Best), which was seen by more than 70,000 people, and scoring the music for Belfast’s The Titanic Boys.

Offstage, he is also a passionate advocate for mental health awareness.

Support comes from Glasgow’s Wojtek the Bear, described as “Indie Pop Perfection” by BBC Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway and “…nothing but joy” by Clash Magazine. Their name is inspired by the remarkable story of a bear which served with the Polish Army in World War Two and later lived in Edinburgh Zoo.
