YOUNGSTERS Can Enjoy Great Outdoors At School Thanks To Building FirmCRUDEN Building lent a helping hand to King’s Oak Primary, Greenock, by transforming their outdoor play areas and building several new pieces of equipment for pupils to enjoy.
The school is close to the 137-unit affordable housing development being constructed by Cruden at James Watt Dock on behalf of River Clyde Homes.
The community benefits team at Cruden worked closely with the teachers and staff to fully establish the exact needs of the school and donated materials and built a new and engaging outdoor classroom with log tables and seats.
The team also removed overgrown shrubbery from the school’s planter area and replaced it with new top soil to allow the children to enjoy learning about gardening and sustainability.
Finally, a new fence and gates were provided around the perimeter of the outdoor games area.
Caroline McCahill, senior family worker from King’s Oak Primary, said: “Thanks to the invaluable support of Cruden Building and River Clyde Homes, our outdoor play area is more secure, and many areas of our playground have been greatly improved.
“This includes the addition of an outdoor learning space and the revamp of our green space. This has been ideal for our children to safely enjoy playing and learning outdoors and has transformed our school grounds.”

“We’re pleased to offer support to staff and children at King’s Oak Primary and hope they enjoy the new facilities for years to come.”

The James Watt Dock development is part of River Clyde Homes’s ambitious plans to build more than 500 homes over five years from 2017.
The final major development, again being undertaken by Cruden Building, is at St Stephen’s in Port Glasgow, due for completion in summer 2022.
