Inverclyde Now Logo WITNESS Appeals After Properties And Vehicles Targeted By Thieves

POLICE in Inverclyde have been dealing with a number of theft and break-in related incidents in Greenock and Gourock.

Two males were observed prowling around properties and trying car doors at 12.45am on Monday in the Levan/Faulds Park estate in Gourock. Items were stolen from a number of vehicles

Police are continuing enquiries to identify the suspects involved.

Entry was forced to the Salvation Army building on Regent Street in Greenock between 1:30pm on Friday and 8:30am on Monday. It is unknown if anything was stolen.

Meanwhile, staff at Orchard View care facility on Larkfield road in Greenock observed a male trying to force entry to the premises around 11.30am on Saturday. He made off when challenged.

Witnesses to any of these incidents are asked to contact police on 101.

A 38-year-old man was arrested for allegedly being in a place with the intention of committing theft after officers on patrol observed a male acting suspiciously at a property on Regent Street in Greenock at 11:30pm on Monday.

Police also responded to a report of a male who was observed trying to open car doors and doors to council buildings on Wallace Place in Greenock on Friday at 4:10pm.

The suspect was then allegedly seen trying to steal a charity box from within the Oak Mall. A 45-year-old man was traced and charged.
