A MAN was seriously injured after being attacked in Greenock during a disturbance involving three women.
The 31-year-old, who was visiting a friend, suffered lacerations to his upper body in the incident at Florence Street around 10.30pm (Saturday). He was described as being in a stable condition in hospital.
Police are treating the incident as an attempted murder.
Detective Inspector David Wagstaff said: “We believe a number of females have attended at this location in a car whereby there has been a disturbance.
“We believe it was a targeted attack and additional patrols are being carried out in the area.”
One of the females involved is described as heavy set with blonde hair.
Door-to-door inquiries are to take place and a forensic examination of the scene.
Witnesses are asked to call police on 101 quoting incident 4385 of 26 September.
