Inverclyde Now Logo WITNESS Appeal After Serious Assault In Greenock

12 October, 2020 | Local

A 20-YEAR-old man suffered multiple lacerations when he was attacked by several masked men in Greenock.

Police and ambulance crews were called to Grieve Road, near the shops, around 8.30pm on Sunday.

Several men wearing dark clothing and masks attacked the man with a bladed weapon. He was treated at Inverclyde Royal Hospital.

Detective Sergeant Alex Allardyce said: “We believe this to be a targeted attack, however, whether that’s the case or not, this person was seriously injured and we have to find those responsible.

“From our enquiries so far, at least three men were involved. They left the scene in a long black saloon type car.

“I am sure someone will either have seen or heard the attack take place and would ask that anyone who has not yet come forward to police do so as their information may be very helpful to our enquiry.

“We’d also be keen to get any dash-cam footage from the area between 8.20 pm and 8.40 pm.”

Police can be contacted on 101; callers should quote incident number 3315 of 11 October.
