WITNESS Appeal After Boat Yard Blaze

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a boat was deliberately set on fire in Port Glasgow.

The incident happened around 8.30pm on Wednesday at a boat yard in the Queen Street area.

The fire was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and no one was injured.

A second boat and a fence were also damaged by the blaze.

Detective Constable Laura Sokolov said: “Fortunately no one was injured but considerable damage was caused and the fire is being treated as wilful.

“Enquiries so far have established that a person wearing dark clothing was seen at the time and we are keen to speak to them and anyone else with information that could help with our investigation.

“We would also like to speak to anyone with private CCTV or dash-cam footage that could assist us.”
