WEMYSS Bay Rail Line Closed By Flooding

20 September, 2023 | Local, Noticeboard

TRAINS were cancelled between Wemyss Bay and Port Glasgow this morning (Wednesday) because of flooding.

Network Rail said the high level of water at Branchton station, Greenock, following heavy rain had forced the closure.

Glasgow Central to Wemyss bay services started and terminated at Port Glasgow. Disruption lasted for a number of hours.

Network Rail stated: “Our infrastructure colleagues advise there is flood water above the railhead in the Branchton area and in reaction the line has been closed.”

ScotRail stated: “Due to high levels of water in the Branchton area the line has been closed. Colleagues will remain on site and monitor flood water level.”
