Inverclyde Now Logo WATER Pipe Work Will Disrupt A78 Traffic In Greenock

10 September, 2019 | Noticeboard

A MAJOR Greenock traffic route will be affected by essential upgrades to the water network.

The improvement work by Scottish Water involves half a mile of pipework and is set to begin on Tuesday 1 October at two locations — Inverkip Road and Old Inverkip Road.

Manually-controlled traffic lights will be in place on a stretch of the A78 Inverkip Road from 1 October for approximately three weeks from the junction of Rankin Street to the junction of Orangefield Lane.

Old Inverkip Road will be closed from the junction of Inverkip Road near Auchneagh Road to the junction of Gateside Avenue from 1 October for about two weeks.

Work will be carried out on Scottish Water’s behalf by Caledonia Water Alliance.

Joanne Craig, customer manager with Caledonia Water Alliance said: “This upgrade work to the water infrastructure in Greenock will ensure Scottish Water customers in the area can continue to enjoy clear, fresh drinking water. It will also help reduce the chance of pipes bursting.

“We’d like to thank the local community in advance for their patience and understanding while this improvement work is undertaken.”
