A DRIVER was arrested after crashing in Port Glasgow, one of three motorists who allegedly failed roadside breath tests in Inverclyde at the weekend.
Police were called to report of a driver making off after a collision on Arran Avenue at 8pm on Saturday.
Sergeant Jason Logsdon said: “A quick-thinking member of the public assisted police in tracing the driver who allegedly failed a roadside breath test.”
The 20-year-old is accused of a number of alleged offences including being intoxicated while driving, having no insurance and only being a provisional licence-holder. The vehicle was seized.
Meanwhile at 1am on Sunday, a 31-year-old woman allegedly failed a roadside breath test after officers stopped a car on Prospecthill Street, Greenock. She was held in custody to appear at court.
And at 4:40am on Saturday, police were on Bawhirley Road in Greenock dealing with a separate matter when they saw a female park and exit a car while apparently heavily intoxicated.
The 43-year-old female was charged and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
