TUG That Tragically Sank At Greenock Is Recovered

A TUGBOAT that capsized and sank at Greenock with the loss of its two crew members has been recovered.

Floating crane Lara 1 arrived on the Clyde today (Sunday) to lift Clyde Marine vessel Biter from the river bed.

The tugboat was lifted from the water by early evening.

George Taft, 65, from Greenock, and Ian Catterson, 73, from Millport, died when the boat sank off East India Harbour on Friday 24 February.

The tug was escorting small cruise ship Hebridean Princess at the time.

The bodies of the crew members were later recovered.

An investigation into the tragedy is underway.
