24 January, 2018 | Local

NEW coaching sessions start at Ardgowan Tennis Club in Ardgowan Square, Greenock, from this Saturday (27 January).

There are blocks for children and teenagers plus adult beginner coaching for those interested in trying out tennis.

The full schedule is:

Red Group (five to seven-year-olds) — Saturdays, 1 to 1.50pm, and Tuesdays, 4.30 to 5.20pm

Orange Group (eight and nine-year-olds) — Saturdays, noon to 12.50pm, and Tuesdays, 5.30 to 16.20pm

Green Group (10 and 11-year-olds) — Wednesdays, 4 to 4.50pm

Yellow Group (12 to 15-year-olds) — Saturdays, 10 to 10.50am, and Wednesdays, 5 to 5.50pm

Yellow Group Matchplay: Saturdays, 11 to 11.50am

Adult Beginners — Wednesdays, 6 to 6.50pm, followed by social tennis

Club convener Chris Jewell said: “As a bonus for these blocks, which cost only £20 each for the six sessions, non-members doing a whole block will receive free temporary membership at the club, allowing them to play at most other times on the courts until the middle of April so they can develop the skills they are learning.

“Plus those under 10 can have their parents on court with them at no additional cost. We encourage anyone vaguely interested in tennis as well as those who enjoy the game to come along. The sessions will take place whatever the weather by going indoors as needed for elements of the coaching.”

To sign up for a block, email ardgowantennisclub@gmail.com or telephone 01475 783000 or 07932 154515. Bookings are advisable. People can also come for one or more dates at a cost of £4 per occasion for members and £5 for non-members. The membership bonus is not available for those people doing less than a whole block.
