TEMPORARY Timetable Means Big Cut In Glasgow/Gourock Trains

SCOTRAIL is significantly reducing services in Inverclyde from next week because of a dispute with drivers.

The local lines are among a number of routes affected under a temporary timetable being introduced from Monday (23 May).

So far the operator has only confirmed details of the Monday to Friday service.

There will be two trains an hour on the Glasgow/Gourock route during the day instead of three. Nearly all of them will call at all stations.

There are also changes to early morning and late night services on both the Gourock and Wemyss Bay lines.

The last train from Glasgow to Gourock, will be at 2206, and the final one from Gourock to Glasgow will leave at 2100.

There continues to be an hourly service to/from Wemyss Bay during the day, but the first train into the city is not until 07:54 and the last from Glasgow is at 19:37.

It’s expected that Saturdays will be “broadly similar” although detailed weekend timetables have still to be released.

ScotRail say the changes are because of the ongoing impact of a significant number of drivers declining to make themselves available for overtime or rest day working, following an announcement by the drivers’ union ASLEF that it will ballot for industrial action over pay.
