As someone who was involved in the 1962 celebrations for the Comet replica, I was disgusted to read the latest report.
When the model was rebuilt we understood that it was to be covered and materials were used accordingly.
Surely Inverclyde, as well as Port Glasgow, must retain this historic vessel as we were told (as taxpayers) that money had been set aside to maintain and repair it.
The delay in doing this is obviously down to the members of the council.
As Inverclyde gets such a bad press because of ‘The Few’, this ship is something of which we can be proud.
