TAKEAWAY Dropped From Plan For Old Church Site

8 March, 2023 | Local, Planning

DEVELOPMENT plans proposed for a central Greenock gap site no longer include a hot food takeaway.

Permission is still being sought for a convenience store at the former Nelson Street EU Congregational Church plot.

But instead of a takeaway, a small shop is now proposed.

The convenience store would have trading space of 187 square metres.

There would be 14 parking spaces.

The new application is pending assessment by Inverclyde Council officials. No reason for the change is given in planning documents.

Nelson Street EU Congregational Church united with George Square Congregational Church some years ago to become Greenock West United Reformed Church.

The Greenock site was put up for auction in 2017. Demolition took place in February/March 2021.
