Inverclyde Now Logo SWIMMING — Success For Port Glasgow Otters At Championships

SIXTEEN members of Port Glasgow Otters swim team competed in their first competition of 2020, the West of Scotland Regional Championships.

The squad was among 15 teams which participated in a total of 63 races at Tollcross International Swimming Centre, Glasgow.

The team had a fantastic day with every member winning a medal. They returned home with an amazing tally of 44 medals –-24 gold, 15 silver and five bronze as well as several personal best (PB) times being broken.

Kyle Brotherton won four gold medals, in the 50m backstroke (class 4), 25m butterfly (class 4), 50m breaststroke (class 4), 50m freestyle (class 4), and a silver medal in the 75m individual medley (IM) (class 3).

Eve Cushnaghan won three gold medals, in the 75m IM (class 2), 50m breaststroke (class 4), 100m freestyle (open), and a silver medal in the 50m backstroke (class 3).

Aimee Hagan won four gold medals, in the 100m IM (class 3), 50m backstroke (class 1), 50m breaststroke (class 1) and 100m freestyle (open).

Ross O’Donnell won a gold medal in the 50m butterfly (class 2) and two silver medals, in the 100m IM (class 3) and the 50m breaststroke (class 2).

Isaac Dunning won five gold medals, in the 100m IM (class 1), 50m backstroke (class 1), 50m butterfly (class 2), 50m breaststroke (class 1) and the 100m freestyle (open).

Richard Browning won five silver medals, in the 100m IM (class 1), 50m backstroke (class 1), 50m butterfly (class 2), 50m breaststroke (class 1) and the 100m freestyle (open).

Zac Gallacher won a gold medal in the 25m freestyle (class 6) and a silver medal in the 25m backstroke (class 8).

Lindi Steele won a gold medal in the 25m backstroke (class 8).

Ellie Green won a gold medal in the 25m backstroke (class 7) and a bronze medal in the 25m freestyle (class 5).

Emma Thompson won two bronze medals, in the 25m backstroke (class 7) and the 25m freestyle (class 6).

Paige McLean won a silver medal in the 25m backstroke (class 5) and a bronze medal in the 50m freestyle (class 3).

Paula Carroll won a silver medal in the 50m breaststroke (class 1) and a bronze medal in the 50m freestyle (class 2).

Jordyn Fitzharris won a gold medal in the 50m freestyle (class 3) and a silver medal in the 50m breaststroke (class 4).

Katy Boyle won a gold medal in the 50m breaststroke (class 2) and two silver medals, in the 50m backstroke (class 1) and the 100m freestyle (open).

Stephen Coyle won a gold medal in 50m backstroke (class 1).

Ruairidh Craynor won a gold medal in the 25m freestyle (class 8).
