THE owners of McGill’s Buses — Sandy and James Easdale — have continued their backing of Morton Youth Academy, with a donation of 200 footballs.

The gift was handed over to Derek Anderson, Morton’s head of youth development. He said: “All the staff at Morton Youth Academy thank Sandy and James Easdale for their continued support. They already buy all the kit for the coaches and 115 kids on an annual basis, so to buy 200 new balls for the academy exceeded our expectations.

“They are amazing supporters of Morton Youth Academy and the opportunities it brings to local kids in Inverclyde and the surrounding area.”

Sandy Easdale, pictured above left, said: “Like all academies, Morton Youth Academy struggles for financial support, so myself and James are delighted to support them today, by donating these footballs.

“It’s not all about the football; the kids learn skills like discipline, work ethic and team spirit. It increases their confidence, which can help them out in situations they face at school and in their day-to-day lives. These are life-long skills that they can carry into adulthood.

“From my experience, I know that the kids can really benefit from the opportunity to make friends from all over Inverclyde. Many of my son’s closest friends are boys he met through Morton Youth Academy and I’m sure their friendships will last a lifetime.

“There’s a great social aspect to the Academy. I’ve seen parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles come along to watch the boys play. There’s a brilliant atmosphere. Let’s hope they can get back to playing soon and put these footballs to good use.”

James Easdale said: “We’re pleased to be able to continue our support of Morton Youth Academy. Derek and his team are brilliant at what they do and their efforts are greatly appreciated by all of the kids at the academy.

“Hopefully with this contribution, they will be fully equipped to get back to training as soon as Government guidance allows.”
