GOUROCK athlete Georgia Morrison was delighted with her GB Athletic League debut while representing the Glasgow Jaguars athletics team in London.
Having secured selection after some fine performances recently, Georgia travelled to compete in the Premiership Division of the UK’s top athletics league competition contesting the individual 400 metres and the 4 x 400-metre relay.
In very blustery conditions, Georgia changed tactics and decided on a more conservative first half. With a step up in the class of competitor, Georgia found herself trailing going into the final bend, however after a shift of gears and an increase in speed, she began cutting the deficit approching the home straight.
Having saved some energy earlier in the race, Georgia was passing her fellow competitors and contesting for the top placings with every stride. She crossed the line to take a very respectable third place.
Later in the day, Georgia formed part of the Jaguars’s quartet for the womens 4 x 400-metre relay.
Despite being up against some of England’s most decorated athletic clubs, Georgia, on the second leg displayed her own relaxed style on the back straight before striding toward the change-over zone, handing the baton in the lead, which the team maintained to the delight of the far-travelled support.
