STREETS Sealed Off After ‘Exploding Gas Cylinder’ Incident At Greenock Shipping Terminal

EMERGENCY services sealed off the area around Greenock Ocean Terminal after an incident involving a gas cylinder.

Firefighters were called to part of the terminal near Container Way just after 2pm (Saturday).

Police were called in to close off Clarence Street, part of Container Way, Laird Street. and a number of side streets.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson issued a statement around 4pm saying: “We were alerted to reports of an exploding gas cylinder at a commercial unit.

“Operations Control mobilised five appliances to the scene, where crews remain in attendance as they dampen down the single-storey building.

“There are no reported casualties at this time.”
