TWO Still Game stars brought some stage magic to Greenock primary school pupils with a surprise visit as they prepare to take lead roles in one of Scotland’s best-loved pantomimes.
Actors Jane McCarry and Mark Cox went to Whinhill Primary School ahead of appearing in a new production of Sleeping Beauty at Greenock’s Beacon Arts Centre.
The comedians gave primary three children a masterclass in stagecraft and acting, passing on hints and tips on performing.
The visit was one of several stops on a tour of landmarks across Inverclyde ahead of this year’s run.

McCarry and Cox are returning to the stage at the Beacon this year, having starred in last year’s production of Jack and the Beanstalk.
They will be joined by River City’s Jimmy Chisholm, who reprises his popular pantomime dame character, as well as Lee Samuel and Shannon Swan.
Directed by Tony Cownie and written by Alan McHugh, the show is produced in-house by the Beacon, with co-directors Lesley Davidson and Karen Townsend taking the reins.
Tickets are on sale now for this year’s show which runs from early December until Hogmanay.
It follows a record-breaking year in 2024, with almost 21,000 people attending performances of Jack and the Beanstalk.
Jane said: “We loved meeting the Primary 3B kids at Whinhill Primary. They’ve nearly all been to the panto before and they are so excited for Sleeping Beauty.
“They loved getting to try on the wigs and to speak a few lines. I think they were better than me and Mark.”
