UPDATE From Greenock Morton Hockey Squads

ALL three Greenock Morton Hockey Club senior teams were in action with mixed results.

The Ladies continued their unbeaten run with a narrow 1-0 victory at home to Loch Lomond, the goal coming courtesy of Jennifer Reid. The ladies are on the right path for a very successful season and, with a number of youngsters in the club, the future of the team looks to be in good hands.

The men’s teams couldn’t match the ladies and both succumbed to defeat. The 1st XI travelled to face Strathclyde University in what proved to be a fairly even contest. Unfortunately the Greenock side lost out by the odd goal again which came late on in the 3-2 loss. The goals came from Bruce Glenny and Jonny Roy.

The 2nd XI faced Kelburne at Glasgow Green and went down 3-1 with the goal coming from Alan Martin. The positive story of the day though was that there were two new players making their debuts. Young Callum Robinson has been attending the junior sessions for a couple of years and has now made the jump into the 2nd XI to further his development. At the opposite end of the age spectrum the not-as-young Ricky Martin also made his debut and showed that age is no barrier to taking up a new sport.
