FOOTBALL coaching sessions for children with additional support needs (ASN) in Inverclyde can continue for the rest of the year thanks to a donation from Specsavers Port Glasgow

The Saturday sessions run by Craig Molloy Coaching at Battery Park are being sponsored by the store at Gallagher Retail Park.

The coaching started during the summer and will move to indoor facilities at Notre Dame High School as the evenings get darker.

The sponsorship from Specsavers will cover costs of hall hire, coach fees, equipment, branded bibs and footballs.

Craig said: “We believe every young person deserves the opportunity to enjoy sport in a supportive, inclusive environment.

“These tailored football sessions can help young people to build confidence, improve physical fitness, foster friendships, and teach valuable life skills all while providing a fun and safe space to participate.

“We’ve had some fantastic feedback from the sessions we’ve already hosted and we’re hugely grateful to the team at Specsavers Port Glasgow for sponsoring and supporting us in our mission to connect as many people as we can across Inverclyde through the power of football.”

Megan Brown, director at Specsavers in Port Glasgow, says: “After learning about the fantastic work that Craig and his team of coaches are doing for young people in our community, we were thrilled to support them in any way we can.

“We hope that every young player who joins in the ASN sessions has a fantastic time, learns new skills, meets new friends and discovers a love for the beautiful game.”

Craig Molloy Coaching also runs children’s football classes, over-50s’ walking football groups, classes for New Scots, Girls-only classes, and programmes supporting those recovering from alcohol or drug issues.
