Inverclyde Now Logo TEN Years Ago….Flames Ripped Through Disused Port Glasgow Pub

15 August, 2018 | From The Archive

IT’S 10 years since this spectacular blaze at an empty Port Glasgow pub.

Crews were called to the former West End Bar in Belhaven Street around 11.30pm on 14 August 2008.

The building was well alight and a high-reach water tower had to be called in from Paisley to help tackle the flames.

Firefighters prevented the blaze spreading to neighbouring buildings, including premises rented as a recording studio.
