A 28-YEAR-old man was arrested for allegedly shoplifting and having a knife at a supermarket.
Police were called to Tesco, Port Glasgow about 3:30am on Tuesday.
The suspect was searched by officers and allegedly found in possession of stolen goods and a knife.
He was held in custody to appear at court.
Area commander Chief Inspector Paul Cameron said: “It remains totally unacceptable to carry a knife in a public place without lawful authority or reasonable excuse.
“Individuals who carry knives in this manner put lives at risk.”
