CALMAC Ferries welcomed Stuart McMillan MSP to its new storage facility at Faulds Park in Gourock.

Managing director Robbie Drummond, pictured, and logistics manager Ronnie McKay, led a tour of the store and talked about the benefits that it is bringing to service resilience.

Mr Drummond said: “This visit was the ideal opportunity to show how we are striving to improve our services. Consolidating vessel parts in a central storage facility will simplify our logistics leading to faster breakdown support and improved vessel resilience.

“I would like to thank Stuart McMillan for his interest in Faulds Park and the excellent improvements being carried out by the CalMac team at this facility.”

Mr McMillan said: “I would like to thank Robbie Drummond and his team for facilitating the visit and I was greatly impressed by the scale and ambition of this new facility.

“The storage capacity alone will help transform the maintenance capacity of the business.

“In addition, the soon-to-be-added engineering workshop will only enhance the capability and capacity of CalMac to not only respond to issues but provide a better working environment for all staff deployed there.

“This investment locally is good news for Inverclyde and I wish CalMac every success with it.”
