13 June, 2024 | Local, Noticeboard, Sport

ROYAL Gourock Yacht Club is holding an open day on Saturday 22 June for people to find out what it has to offer and enjoy a barbecue and live music.

The club, on Ashton Road, will be open from 11am for those looking for information on how to get afloat in lots of different ways.

Royal Gourock boasts a safe anchorage, great launch service, a full social calendar and bar and kitchen. Members can learn to sail with the Discover Sailing team or can sample coastal rowing on one of the club’s skiffs. It’s also a safe place to try open water swimming.

The club runs a successful Cadet Section for young people aged 12 and over to learn the ropes, and many of the club’s older members discovered their love of sailing and the sea at the busy cadet nights, still enjoying taking to the water half a century later.

Young people aged 18 and over have their own section with lots happening, on and off the water.

The open day will also feature a barbecue on the balcony, a visit from Ardgowan Distillery, an RNLI stall and live music from lunchtime until late. plus a draw for a year’s free membership.
