A SECOND man has pled guilty to murdering a man in Greenock two years ago.

Alexander McQuillan (27), pictured right, appeared at the High Court in Glasgow today and admitted the murder of Michael Beaton. Richard Mullan (21) previously pled guilty to the murder last November.
They will be sentenced at a later date.
Mr Beaton, who was 35-years-old, was found seriously injured on Drumfrochar Road on the evening of Sunday 26 November 2023. He was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where he died.
Detective Chief Inspector Graham McCreadie said: “This was a shocking and violent attack which resulted in the death of a man. McQuillan and Mullan will now face the consequences of their actions.
“Our thoughts remain with Michael’s family and I hope the convictions bring them some level of comfort.
“Violent incidents such as this are not tolerated and officers will continue to work to bring those responsible to justice.”
