COUNCILLORS are to consider sale of two former school sites in Greenock for development.
Offers have been received for land on Lyle Road, that contained Holy Cross primary, and at Westmorland Road, behind Inverclyde Royal Hospital, where Sacred Heart primary was located.

The sites are both considered suitable for residential development.
No further details have been revealed and the decision will be made in private because of commercial confidentiality.
An Inverclyde Council report on future housing projects published earlier this year stated that Sanctuary Scotland Housing Association was progressing plans for two sites in Greenock currently owned by Inverclyde Council. The locations were not given.

The report stated: “Early feasibility work has been undertaken, including initial design layouts by an architect and cost appraisal by Sanctuary’s internal construction team.”
Those proposed developments would deliver around 60 affordable homes for social rent, approximately 28 at one site and 31 at the other.
In December 2021, a planning application was submitted for 19 homes at the Holy Cross site but no decision was ever issued.
