A 67-YEAR-old man has been charged with a number of motoring offences after reports from members of the public of an intoxicated motorist.
Officers attended at lower Kempock Street in Gourock at 7:45pm on Wednesday traced the car as the driver was allegedly attempting to drive away.
He was arrested for a number of alleged road traffic offences including drink-driving and having no driving licence and insurance. He is scheduled to appear at court on a later date.
Community Inspector Andrew Durk said: “I would like to thank the people who contacted police regarding this incident.
“Their quick-thinking actions allowed police to stop the driver before he was able to drive away which could have had catastrophic results.”
