PROMOTION — Stepwell’s Life-Changing Employment Support Programme

24 October, 2022 | Local, Noticeboard

INVERCLYDE residents who are currently unemployed, feeling isolated or have health barriers that are limiting their ability to get back to work are being urged to contact Stepwell.

Stepwell is a local coaching and training company specialising in improving the well-being, capabilities, and employment opportunities of local people with health conditions that prevent them from moving forward in their life and work.

Stepwell’s Employment Support provides access to a range of personal development and solutions-focused coaching opportunities, additional health and well-being support (including physiotherapy, counselling, etc.), accredited vocational training courses (City & Guilds, REHIS, etc.), work placements in ‘live’ business settings and a bespoke job search/matching service.

One person who accessed the support said: “I was very nervous, but I instantly felt welcomed by the Stepwell team. It was a nice environment and I felt at ease quite quickly. Everyone is so friendly and supportive.  I was able to gain confidence in myself and my capabilities of cooking and applying for jobs/college courses.

I can’t believe I have new cooking skills! I’m feeling good, much better than when I came to Stepwell. My goals now are to sustain employment and keep going with college. I am engaging in one-to-one coaching to help me sustain my job and college.  Another goal for me is to have a more positive mindset for life; Stepwell have helped me with this a lot and gave me the tools to be more positive and be self-aware of all that I am capable of.”

Another said: “I had never heard of Stepwell until it was advertised on Inverclyde Now and I just registered, It was so easy. I was so nervous as I didn’t know what to expect but once I was there that quickly changed, and I started to enjoy my time with them, looking forward to attending the weekly sessions.

Stepwell brought me out of my shell and comfort zone as I would never have put myself forward for anything unknown.  I attended the Cookschool, as I was not a cook and it helped me believe in myself to achieve and do different things from what I was used to.  I signed up for other accredited training courses which helped me progress into employment.

I became good friends with my coach, and I realised through talking and setting goals, that I had achieved more than I first thought.  I am enjoying my new job, learning new skills and hopefully will sustain this job after the 12-month contract.”

Angela Darroch from Stepwell said: “We are seeking to support individuals in Inverclyde who are wanting to move towards changing their life and work opportunities, by putting themselves in the best position possible to secure employment.

“Our team supports by coaching and training individuals to identify their unique strengths, understand their specific barriers to employment, build positive coping strategies while also working with them to improve their physical, emotional, and mental health.”
