INVERCLYDE residents who are unemployed, feeling isolated or have health barriers limiting their ability to get back to work are being urged to contact Stepwell.
Stepwell is a local social enterprise company specialising in improving the well-being, capabilities, and employment opportunities of local people with health conditions preventing them from moving into work.
“A year ago I was a nervous wreck due to past trauma, but now I can say I’m actually living life! I’ve learned to be more confident and surer of myself since I started training at Stepwell.
“My experiences of learning, coaching and training at Stepwell have helped me improve my confidence and self-esteem, and I started looking forward to going each week to the Cookschool and career sessions with my coach. Through Stepwell support, I had an interview and got the job!”.

Stepwell’s Employment Support provides access to a range of personal development and solutions-focused coaching opportunities, additional health, and wellbeing support (including physiotherapy), accredited vocational training courses (City & Guilds, REHIS, etc.), work placements in ‘live’ business settings and a bespoke job search/matching service.
Angela Darroch from Stepwell said: “We are seeking to support individuals in Inverclyde who are wanting to take a step towards change, by putting themselves in the best position possible to secure employment.
“Our team supports by coaching and training people to identify their unique strengths, understand their specific barriers to employment, build positive coping strategies while also working with them to improve their physical, emotional, and mental health.”
To access Stepwell’s Employment Support, you must be:
- A resident of Inverclyde
- Unemployed and wanting to get back to work (a small spark is all we ask for)
- Not registered on the Fair Start Scotland programme
- Have a health, wellbeing issue and/or a disability which is an additional barrier to gaining and sustaining employment (inc. anxiety, depression, etc.)
- Aged between 18 and 60
