PROPOSALS for how to spend £1.5million of UK Government money in Port Glasgow town centre are being submitted to councillors.
Inverclyde officials hope the Pride in Place funding can be used to kick-start implementation of a new housing-led masterplan for lower Port Glasgow.
They state: “It is anticipated that early-stage intervention (and investment) is beneficial to enabling future investment and delivering positive change in the short-term.
“It is envisaged that initial interventions can be supported in a number of ways, including use of the UK Government Pride in Place £1.5million funding award.

“Through engagement with elected members and engagement through the Town Centre Regeneration Forum, areas of focus identified for spend include strategic acquisitions in the town
centre to enable future regeneration, shop improvements and environmental improvements.”
Around £850,000 would be allocated to buying properties; £350,000 would be improving shops in John Wood Street; and £300,000 for environmental improvements.
