‘POP-Up’ Service To Be Provided During Four-Month Closure Of Port Glasgow Library

11 December, 2020 | Local, Noticeboard

PORT Glasgow library is set to close for internal building works, but a temporary service will be available nearby.

The library in Port Glasgow Municipal Buildings, Fore Street, will shut on Christmas Eve for around 16 weeks.

A ‘pop-up’ facility will operate from the 7½ John Wood Street centre from 11 January.

It will be open each Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 2pm during the closure for collections, returns and for computer access.

The closure will allow Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL) — a tenant in the Municipal Buildings — to carry out office expansion work.

Councillor Jim Clocherty, Inverclyde Council’s convener of education and communities, said: “I’m pleased that an alternative solution has been found in a ‘pop-up’ library just around the corner in John Wood Street in addition to our fantastic online services.”
