21 October, 2021 | Local

MULTIPLE police units responded to a report of a male and female within a garden trying to access a property in Port Glasgow.

Both suspects were traced at Monkton Place around 11am yesterday.

They were arrested for allegedly being in a place with the intention of committing theft.

A 52-year-old male and 30-year-old female are now being investigated in connection with a number of acquisitive crimes specifically targeting elderly and vulnerable people both locally and from other areas.

Both have been held in custody to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court.

Community Inspector Andrew Durk said: “Offending by preying on elderly and vulnerable people is despicable.

“I would like to thank the public for their quick-thinking actions in contacting police.”
