The Quarry Drive site

PROPOSALS for 75 houses on green belt land at Kilmacolm have cleared a major planning hurdle.

Mactaggart & Mickel Homes Ltd want to build at Kilmacolm Meadow, west of Quarry Drive.

Councillors on Inverclyde Planning Board voted to recommend that Inverclyde Council approve the application.

That decision will be made at a special meeting of all councillors on Tuesday.

Nearly 500 villagers have objected.

The full council will also consider a proposal by Taylor Wimpey (West Scotland) to build around 100 houses at Planetreeyetts.

The planning board is recommending that that application be refused.

The Quarry Drive site has been earmarked for residential use in the proposed new Inverclyde Local Development Plan but
the Planetreeyetts site is identified as remain green belt.
