COUNCILLORS have agreed that a plan for a large detached property in Kilmacolm can go ahead.
The three-bedroom house is proposed for a plot between two properties at the former ARP station site on Lochwinnoch Road.
Planning officials had recommended approval for the application. Councillors on Inverclyde Planning Board granted permission on Wednesday.

Two members of the public and Kilmacolm Civic Trust objected. The trust stated: “What has been delivered at the former ARP station site is not architecturally striking and does not enhance the B786 entrance to Kilmacolm.
“If a third house is built there, the site is likely to then grow even more and result in gross over-development in the countryside.”

In their report, planners stated: “It is acknowledged that although in the Green Belt, the house is to be positioned between two existing residential properties which front on to Lochwinnoch Road.
“The proximity of the site to existing residential properties ensures that the proposal will not result in an isolated or sporadic development within the wider Green Belt.
“The proposal can be considered compatible with the surrounding area, reflects the adjoining dwellinghouses in terms of scale, massing and external appearance, uses materials which allow it to blend in with the adjoining properties, will not result in any significant long-term impacts on the environmental quality of the Green Belt, and would not undermine the purpose of the Green Belt around Kilmacolm.”
