PLANNERS Asked To Approve Digital Billboard And Vehicle Charging Site

How the hoarding would look

A DIGITAL advert hoarding and electric vehicle charging area are being proposed for vacant land at Custom House Way in Greenock.

A planning application has been submitted to Inverclyde Council seeking permission for the advert structure to be installed next to the Lid store car park. It would only show static images, changing every 10 seconds.

Applicant Posterplus Ltd state a second application will be lodged regarding electric vehicle charging infrastructure at the same site.

A document lodged with the council states: “The proposal will result in no substantive change to the character of the surrounding area, and, as such the proposal will not be harmful to amenity or public safety in this commercial location.

“It is intended that most of the site will be used as a local electric vehicle charging area with EV stations installed.

“We envisage a second planning application to be lodged in January 2021 for the EV units. This would offer a great local facility along with the environmental benefits.”
