PLAN For New Gourock Property Is Rejected

INVERCLYDE planners have refused permission for a new home on a grassed area in a Gourock housing estate.

The four-bedroom house with detached garage was proposed for land beside 22 And 24 Dunvegan Avenue in Levan.

Drawings showed there would be a landscaped grass area with low level planting.

The applicant stated this would provide “a green space with native species to support a diverse ecosystem, encouraging wildlife whilst maintaining sightlines for road users”.

However, council officials rejected the application. They said the development would “result in the loss of open space which is of quality and value in terms of its contribution to the amenity, character and appearance of the wider area and to the community”.

A decision has still to be made regarding an application for a house elsewhere in Levan.
